It Began with a petition “Traces of Slavery” to the members of the Standing Committee on Internal Affairs of the House of Representatives on July 3, 1998.

The crimes against humanity have been the driving forces that made the Dutch government in this case, ex. Minister Van Boxtel and ex. State Secretary Van Der Ploeg decide to implement the petition "Traces of Slavery".
